The Linear Temperature Compensation Actuator is used to compensate for fluid density variation to a temperature in a mass flow meter design


Assembly is mounted so that the actuator’s well is exposed to the fluid (5.310” depth in picture). At a standard reference temperature, the vertical position of the flowmeter’s sensing pawl on the cam is zeroed which calibrates the flowmeter. During operation, as the temperature increases the thermal material in the actuator expands causing the cam to extend outward, raising the sensing pawl and registering a temperature. As the temperature of the fluid cools, the thermal material in the actuator contracts causing the cam to retract, lowering the vertical height of the sensing pawl registering a new temperature. Typical temperature range: -20°F to 200°F; Accuracy +/-3°F
