The Retractable Snap Acting Actuator can be used to unlatch another device at a specific temperature.
Unit is shown in the set position. As temperature increases to within the active range of the thermal actuator the wax it contains starts to change phase from a solid to a liquid expanding in volume. This expanding volume causes a cam to extend upward out of its housing releasing the carrier latch from its resting groove, which allows the carrier assembly to travel upwards into the housing .25″. The assembly remains retracted until it is manually reset. Typical pulling force is 20 lb set / 5 lb retracted.
