A Washdown Station for Every Industrial Application

In food processing, dairy, beverage, chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical facilities maintaining a clean environment is critical to product quality and operational efficiency. Washdown stations are used to quickly and efficiently clean and sanitize equipment in place between production runs or shift changes.

ThermOmegaTech® offers three different washdown station options:

STVM® Steam & Water Washdown Station

The STVM® Washdown Station provides an effective high temperature wash in an easy-to-maintain package. Utilizing our patented Silent Venturi Mixing Valve (STVM®) technology, this washdown station mixes together steam and water to produce a high-powered wash at a user-defined temperature.STVM Washdown Station

Designed to be self-scouring, the mixing valve prevents mineral buildup in tight spaces, decreasing maintenance frequency. To further reduce time spent on required regular maintenance, the unit is in-line serviceable. The user simply switches out the STVM® cartridge with another on hand and the unit is back up and running in minutes.

Safety is our priority, so every STVM® Washdown Station has two built-in safety features – interlocking ball valves to prevent steam-only operation, and an automatic shut-off when output is 15°F over the unit’s temperature set-point (either 150°F or 185°F) or when cold water flow is interrupted.

HCX Water & Water Washdown Station

HCX Washdown StationFor facilities without an available steam supply, the HCX Washdown Station is an ideal solution. This unit utilizes individual globe valves to mix hot and cold water to a user-defined temperature, clearly displayed on the integrated temperature display gauge.

To prevent accidental scalding, the unit is offered with our unique SmartFlow feature. This in-line, over-temperature safety valve automatically stops flow should the unit’s output exceed a factory specified set-point.

HCS Single-Channel Washdown Station

HCS Washdown StationThe HCS Washdown Station simplifies washdown applications even further, providing a high-powered single stream of either cold water or pre-heated hot water at the turn of a ball valve. The unit employs an integrated temperature gauge to confirm output temperature.

Hot Water At The Turn Of A Tap, Even On The 56th Floor

Located in the heart of Austin, TX, The Austonian is a premier luxury residence boasting 360° views, unparalleled amenities, and a Four Star rating from Austin Energy Green Building. Towering over downtown at 683 feet tall, The Austonian is the tallest residential tower West of the Mississippi River.
The Austonian Hot Water At The Turn Of A Tap, Even On The 56th Floor
Despite its laundry list of amenities, The Austonian’s managers were not satisfied with hot water delivery time to the building’s units. In some cases, 2-3 minutes were needed for warm water to reach fixtures.

A team of engineers was assembled and tasked with finding a solution and improving hot water delivery times.

With more than 50 floors to retrofit, the CircuitSolver® was deemed the ideal and only solution to The Austonian’s domestic hot water system challenge.
Hot water distribution lines had originally been placed in corridor ceilings and branched into residential units during construction. Certified plumbers installed CircuitSolvers® in each unit’s ceiling near the hot water return line. Located behind false air vents for easy access, shut-off valves were placed on either side of the CircuitSolvers® for ease of maintenance in the future.

A majority of the work done was in corridors and access to private residences had to be scheduled. Fortunately construction time in residences was minimized due to CircuitSolver’s® simple installation and set-up.

Residents are reportedly pleased with improved hot water delivery times following CircuitSolver® installation. Units with wait times of multiple minutes saw a dramatic reduction, and fixtures now reach proper temperature in 20-30 seconds. A reduction of water waste and the implementation of lower horsepower pumps has also resulted in significant utility cost savings.
This success story is one among many, and thousands of installations around the country benefit from implementing the CircuitSolver®.

Cooling Fluid Control Valves Ensure Uniform Product Quality

(Warminster, PA) Spring marching towards the promise of summer is a welcome relief from frigid winter weather. But while we are enjoying warmer days, many industrial applications and processes need to be precisely maintained within a specific temperature range all year round, no matter the season.

Some processes/equipment that require continual thermal management include liquid cooled compressors, die-casting equipment, thermal energy storage, engines, molding equipment, batteries and electronics. Our temperature control valves continuously sense fluid temperature and automatically modulate to regulate outlet fluid temperature within a narrow and pre-selected range.

Completely self-operating, our valves open and establish flow on rising temperatures using thermostatic actuator technology, making them ideal for industrial applications requiring highly-precise thermal control.

HAT/RA Reverse Acting Heat Actuated Trap Valves Cooling Fluid Control ValvesThese valves improve process efficiency, reduce system wear, maintain consistent product quality, conserve energy, and can save money.

HAT/RA & TV/HAT-RA

The HAT/RA and TV/HAT-RA valves are used to regulate the flow of cooling media in thermal relief applications requiring the removal of heat from a variety of equipment or processes. These valves are installed in-line and regulate flow as needed to maintain optimal operating temperatures and minimize consumption and waste.

HAT/RA-LP & TV/HAT-RA-LP

The HAT/RA-LP and TV/HAT-RA-LP valves operate similarly to the HAT/RA and TV/HAT-RA with the additional feature of  “leak ports” that never fully close for increased sensitivity to upstream process temperature variations.

Our cooling control valves are 100% Made In America with stainless steel components for a long, corrosion-free service life.

ThermOmegaTech® GURU® Plug Rebuild Program Maintains Freeze Protection at Peak Performance

(Warminster, PA USA) Dana Logue, Product Manager – ThermOmegaTech®’s Railroad Division announces the company’s GURU® Rebuild Program.

GURU Flag and Key Rail Freeze ProtectionThermOmegaTech®’s GURU® Plugs utilize self-actuating, thermostatic technology to automatically monitor the water temperature in a locomotives engine coolant and water storage tanks. When the actuator senses that the temperature in the water-bearing system has reached the set point of the valve, the plug opens and drains the water from the tank before it can freeze. The plugs are completely mechanical and require no electrical or air connections to operate.

ThermOmegaTech® recommends that GURU®s should be replaced every 18-24 months. According to Mrs. Logue, “The characteristic tendency of the GURU® Plug actuator is to lose some small amount of stroke as it ages. While this change is a ‘safe’ tendency relating to freeze protection, the upward creep could cause nuisance-dumping. Our rebuild program returns the refurbished valves to the standards of a new plug, achieving peak performance.”

An innovator in freeze protection, ThermOmegaTech®’s GURU®s are the North American railroad standard for protecting locomotives. Each year, GURU® technology protects billions of dollars in rail equipment from expensive freeze damage and lengthy repairs. The Rebuild Program is designed to clean, refurbish, test, and return used GURU® plugs to full operation.

Mrs. Logue notes that during the rebuild process, the plug is completely disassembled and checked. Interior components are replaced, and the refurbished valve goes through three tests to ensure full functionality before being returned to the customer: Cartridge Test, Leak Test, and Pop Test.

The program will be operated out of ThermOmegaTech®’s company headquarters and manufacturing facility in Warminster, PA USA where the valves were originally assembled, tested, and distributed to their end users. GURU PC® valves, used to protect passenger cars from freeze damage, are also eligible for the GURU® Rebuild Program.
